The Akuapem South Municipal Assembly held its Third Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Fourth Assembly on 22nd December, 2025 at the municipal Assembly Hall to transact official business and review the municipality’s performance for the year under consideration.
In attendance were the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Municipal Coordinating Director, Presiding Member, Heads of Departments, security agencies, staff of the Assembly, Assembly Members, and traditional authorities.
Proceedings commenced with opening remarks by the Presiding Member, who set the tone for a productive session. This was followed by the reading, consideration, and adoption of minutes from the previous meeting. Members were encouraged to actively participate in deliberations aimed at advancing the development of the municipality.
In his sessional address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Paul Osae Offei, highlighted key developmental and administrative interventions undertaken during the period under review including general administration, the Assembly’s financial performance, working visits, community engagements, ongoing and completed developmental projects, educational forums, decentralized scholarship schemes, sanitation initiatives, spatial planning, security matters, outcomes of engagements with Okada riders, and the operations of the media team.
The address generated extensive discussions, with Assembly Members raising pertinent issues and offering constructive contributions to improve service delivery and governance.
The Assembly also received and deliberated on the Executive Committee’s report, including justice and security sub – committee, social services sub – committee, development planning sub – committee, which outlined key recommendations and resolutions on administration and development.
Also on the fore, matters arising from the previous minutes were reviewed to ensure the resolution of outstanding issues.
On fiscal matters, Management approved the allocation of 20% out of the 20% allocated for legacy projects from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), for the reshaping of deteriorated roads within the municipality. However, this decision remains subject to approval by the Common fund administrator and Regional Coordinating Council (RCC). Members further deliberated on issues relating to justice, security, and other developmental concerns within the municipality.
Assembly Members took turns to present challenges confronting their respective electoral areas, including poor road conditions, rural electrification, education, sanitation, land disputes, security, and health-related issues. Relevant stakeholders responded to these concerns and proposed possible interventions.
The Assembly formally announced the new Municipal Engineer, Ing. Samuel Dompreh, from South Dayi, who is to replace the outgoing Engineer.
On the welfare of Assembly Members after leaving office, the Presiding Member disclosed that Management have instituted a welfare grant scheme to support former members, particularly those facing terminal illnesses and other welfare challenges after retirement.
The meeting ended with the presiding member admonishing members to continue stakeholder collaboration and the successful implementation of the agreed interventions, the Assembly is poised to strengthen local governance and advance sustainable development across the municipality.
